4GL Solutions designed and implemented an RS/6000 AIX platform Data Warehouse and Executive Information System (EIS) reporting environment utilizing Informix/Oracle as the Database engines and Brio as the reporting tool. An RS6000 back office accounting system for travel agencies is accessed and the data is transformed to the Warehouse. This environment enables users to perform historical trend analysis and carrier comparisons. Data accessed included customer invoice information, general ledger information, airline/car rental/hotel information, and agent commissions. This new technology empowered UniView users with local control over their data, controlled printing options (print only pages needed), access to history and forecasting analysis, faster month end access to data, and allowed data to be moved easily to other tools (ExcelTM, WordPerfectTM). Increased processing time and 24 hour access to data was also achieved. An average of 4,000 reports are distributed daily from the Data Warehouse.
